Handwriting - Pre-Writing Strokes & Shapes

$9.99

What’s Included: 28 page PDF just for those who are showing an interest in writing or are older but may be developmentally delayed and need to work on visual spatial awareness (how lines/curves/shapes “fit” on writing lines) with writing lines. Again, I’m not crazy about children under 5 doing worksheets, but I’ve found many of my students cannot write their name. So, while I have them practice writing their name, we’re simultaneously working on identifying the names of the writing lines (top, middle, bottom) and how their name fits onto the lines. These worksheets are a nice supplemental tool to continue developing those visual spatial skills.

While I’m not super sold on the idea that children this age need to be doing handwriting, the included worksheets are helpful to assess their handwriting skills. Within the Pre-Writing Strokes & Shapes Collection, there is blank lined paper, a vertical line, circle, cross (plus sign), square (rectangle due to my desire to place more on the sheet, so feel free to make your own), X, and a triangle. All of the aforementioned worksheets are on portrait and landscape paper with either black start/stop lines or green start/red stop lines. So, essentially there are four collections in one - depending on which type of paper you pick.

Why I use it: Well I would refer you to the handwriting - comprehensive collection (saving over 50%) because it has all of the handwriting worksheets. However, this prewriting collection is great for students who are just beginning their writing journey or are developmentally delayed and are working on visual spatial awareness with writing lines.
